Elementary Education Areas of Specialization :
All students majoring in Elementary Education are required to complete a 24
credit Area of Endorsement to provide expertise in a specialized content area. (Additional add-on endorsements in coaching and reading are below.)

•Instructional Strategist I: Mild/Moderate (K-6) Endorsement (Special Education) *

* - The English and Language Arts, English as a Second Language, Foreign Language, Mathematics, General Science, Social Studies, and Instructional Strategist I endorsements are Iowa State University programs that have been evaluated and approved by the State of Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (Does not require transcript submission for addition to teaching license.). The other areas meet the State of Iowa minimum requirements for adding endorsements to the teaching license (Requires transcript submission for evaluation and approval to Iowa’Äôs Board of Educational Examiners. An additional fee will be assessed.)
