b Introduction

Students pursuing a Master of Education degree are typically interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills with the intent of becoming more effective practitioners in their fields.

Many are teachers who want to be more effective. Others are interested in pursuing educational related options in other fields (e.g. as a trainer in business or industry or a technology specialist in a school district or Area Education Agency).

While coursework in the Master of Education (M.Ed.) and Master of Science degrees overlap, there is a greater practitioner emphasis in the M.Ed. programs and a greater emphasis on becoming a scholar in the M.S. programs.

All students admitted to the Master of Science (M.S.) and Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs in Curriculum and Instruction are required to complete a set of core courses. Please refer to the .pdf or Word versions of the core courses requirements.
